John Witnesses Cam’el
:
Cam’el pressed the phone to accept the ride request. Driving on the South side was surreal, miles of nearly deserted streets lined with birch, olive, pine, willow and perfectly manicured lawns, even under drought restriction. The ornate wrought iron gate swung open and two bedazzled teenagers awaited on the curb.
:
As the fairy and shirtless boy with tiara loaded in, Cam’el made a note to gather up their glitter trail. A rider once joked about the quantity of silver dust in every Rideshare, later docking him 3 stars because of it. Destination, LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL, a local music festival at the racetrack. The newbies made Cam’el feel a bit old, reaching for his aux cable so starboy could stream his phone.
:
As they rounded Steward Avenue, the car ran underneath a canopy of bright bulbs. Just then John Waters exited the El Cortez hotel, stepping into a bath of evening sunrays that pierced everyone and everything. He turned to catch Cam’el's car gliding by, a triune of shimmering creatures headed toward a rave. A soloist on the radio blared, “Be-loved!”

//Andrew and Lana get a follow//
:
“That’s Him.”
:
John Waters clicked on his Insta feed. There was a picture of Cam’el holding Karin.
:
“Drew, this is the guy I was talking about, downtown last week."
:
Andrew Garcia was a student intern from College of Southern Nevada. John had taken him under his wing at the Herald.
:
"This is the guy. I’m sure of it.”
:
Andrew pushed aside the now cold cup of Americano, extricating himself from Lana Sung his on again off again and fellow CSN student.
:
“Lemme see. This guy? People’s Mayor?”
:
Lana slid around to view the profile.
:
“He’s cute.”
:
Andrew copied the address and sent Cam’el a follow. Lana did the same.
:
After an hour of scrolling through Cam’el’s feed, they were impressed.
:
“Damn! 1 in 8 of Valley residents are stressing from food insecurity. And look at this one. We are now a primary corridor for human trafficking between LA and Phoenix..."
