Cam’el clicked the cell phone off and returned to the screen. BRIDEZILLA. He watched it with the sound down, imagining scenarios from the wild hand gestures and mouthed cussing that followed.

It was the same each week -- happy couple holding hands in the church, multiple dress fittings, drinks with bridesmaids, and budget realities with wedding planners.

This week, the bride wanted bridesmaids to purchase a $2,400 dress. The maid of honor, being financially challenged, asked to buy something a bit less expensive. Bridezilla chewed her the heck out.

“You are ruining my special day. Do whatever you have to, get a new credit card, or this friendship is over!”

Cam’el found all of this very entertaining. He hoped to get married someday, to be someone worthy of union.

He sought this in spite of so many signs declaring the end of marriage, the high divorce rates, apps that promised better. A radio host had argued the people we marry early in life might not be the best suited for us as we get older.
